Scrapbook, 1902-1928.

Consists of one scrapbook apparently kept by Leland Rankin during her girlhood in Nashville, Tennessee. Miss Rankin married Capt. Bruce Douglas in 1917. The scrapbook contains mostly poetry clippings plus a few photographs of Miss Rankin's parents, Leland and Anne Rankin. A few other assorted mementoes are also included.

Family and general correspondence, diaries, accounts, and autograph albums of Alfred E. Howell, his wife Jennie Thompson Howell, and their children (Morton B. Howell III, Martha Howell Bartles, Frances Howell Ewing, Louise Howell Almon, and Isabel Howell), of Nashville, Tennessee. Correspondence covers the years 1880-1931. Also included are eleven diaries (1922-1931) of Alfred E. Howell kept when he lived and worked in New Jersey; three autograph albums and six diaries of Jennie Thompson Howell, 1875-1919; and diaries (1920-1923) of Isabel Howell, kept when she was a student at Vanderbilt University and in library school in New York. A few documents also relate to the Woods family, ancestors of Jennie Thompson Howell. A prominent topic in the papers is Beersheba Springs, Tennessee, where the Howells and Thompsons had summer homes.

Dickinson-Peebles family papers, 1825-1849.

Consists of twelve letters of the Dickinson and Peebles families of the northeastern United States. The families were connected by the marriage of Catherine A. Dickinson and R.H. Peebles. The letters are written from Steubenville, Ohio, Cambridge, Mass., Burlington, Vt., and various locations in Pennsylvania, and chiefly deal with family and school news. Most of the letters are to Catherine Dickinson from friends and her mother, although one letter is from Miss Dickinson to her father, William R. Dickinson.
