Czechoslovak diplomat, minister to the U.S. and Cuba (1936-1946), and member of the Czechoslovak National Council (1939-1946); son of Slovak nationalist leader Svetozár Hurban Vajanský. The collection primarily covers the period 1939-1946 and consists of memoranda, correspondence, and reports concerning the Czechoslovak government-in-exile. It also contains files on, and occasional correspondence from, prominent Czech and Slovak figures, including Edvard Benes̆, Hana Benes̆, Thomas G. Masaryk, Jan Masaryk, and Alice Masaryk. It includes a small amount of correspondence with Ján Dendúr and other American Slovaks and a medical report concerning treatment which General Milan R. S̆tefanik received in the U.S. in 1917.
