John J. Burns Collection (MSS #96) Colorado Historical Society, Denver, Colorado.
John J. Burns (1853-1912) served as the Denver & Rio Grande's Superintendent of Transportation and Motive Power from 1888 until his retirement in 1902. He was later involved in various land, irrigation, and mining enterprises.
