Bly, a resident of Livingston County, Michigan, was 23 years of age when he enlisted as a Private on August 28, 1861, at Fentonville, Michigan. The Third Michigan Cavalry was stationed at De Valls Bluff, Prairie County, Arkansas, the winter of 1864-1865.
