Carte de visite of Walter A. Wood of South Field, Oakland County, Michigan was Sergeant, Company I, Third Michigan Cavalry. Wood, a resident of Oakland County, Michigan, was 22 years of age when he enlisted as a Sergeant on August 28, 1861, at Fenton, Michigan. The Third Michigan Cavalry was stationed at De Valls Bluff, Prairie County, Arkansas, the winter of 1864-1865. Wood survived the Civil War.
