Wood, a resident of Oakland County, Michigan, was 22 years of age when he enlisted as a Sergeant on August 28, 1861, at Fenton, Michigan. The Third Michigan Cavalry was stationed at De Valls Bluff, Prairie County, Arkansas, the winter of 1864-1865.
