This local union was previously known as the Chicago Public Library Employees Union, Local 88 of the State, County and Municipal Workers of America, CIO, 1937-1945; and as Local 2 (Library Chapter), United Public Workers of America, CIO, 1946-1952. Also included is one folder of newsletters, correspondence, event fliers including a poster advertising a reading by Langston Hughes, brochures, resolutions. The materials document the union's efforts to secure equitable wages and working conditions in addition to the union's various cultural and educational activities.Box 1 contains the scrapbook and folder of newsletters and other documents.
