Gould, Benjamin Apthorp, 1824-1896.Benjamin Apthorp Gould (1824-1896) was the founder and first editor of the Astronomical Journal. Gould was involved in the establishment and operation of the National Observatory at Córdoba, Argentina.Contains Gould's letters from May 1878 to August 1881 and certain subject related letters of 1876 by M. Thome, the Annual Report of the Argentine Meteorological Office for 1874 and related observation documents in Spanish. In addition, there are various other letters concerning the Gould materials by College of Puget Sound Professor Raymond Seward and others, plus twelve photographs of the moon taken in October and November of 1918.The collection contains Gould's correspondence with M.
