Notes and summaries
Summary: The Wakefield Family Photo Collection consists of family photographs depicting both the Wakefield and Thompson family members. The donor has identified most photographs in the collection. One folder of images highlights National Guardsmen on the border in 1916 and an additional folder contains three postcards with views of Mexican revoluntionaries.
Historical note: William E. Wakefield came to Tucson in 1888 and worked for the Tucson volunteer fire department and later moved to Los Angeles in 1920 where he worked on movie sets and then started a chicken farm. In 1914 he married Mildred C. Thompson in Tucson but they were divorced in 1919. William was a member of the Arizona National Guard in 1916 and participated in the unit's mobilization to the Mexican Border. Mildred and William had two children: Evelyn Catherine and William Edward Jr. Mildred came to Tucson from Illinois with her family in 1899.
