The M.D. Butler & Co. Records date from 1902-1909, and consist of cancelled checks, various financial records, and lists of intoxicating beverages sold at Butler's drugstore, in Brocket, North Dakota. According to Brocket Centennial 1900-2000, the drugstore was named the Palace Drug Store, while the financial records in the collection indicate a name of M.D. Butler & Co. Two oversize volumes were placed on the shelves adjacent to the M.D. Butler & Co. Records

The collection consists of the original ledger belonging to Nathan Thomas Elder and a copy of the ledger transcribed by the Reverend John Andrew Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. It contains lists of supplies purchased for Elder's farm, along with their prices, from 1866 to 1873. County records from this period are also included in the ledger, resulting from Elder's work as Justice of the Peace. The transcription of the ledger provides an introduction giving general information about the ledger and its contents, photocopies of original pages, a glossary of farm implements, and an index of names

The collection consists of one business ledger maintained by merchants Carhart and Roff which covers accounts from 1853 to 1858. Approximately the first half of the ledger, covering 1839-1840, was maintained by a businessman whose identity is unclear, but was likely James Dunham Carhart, an older relative of Elijah Carhart. Items listed are perishable goods, including coffee, tea, tobacco, and liquor, named along with prices, clients and locations that include Macon, Savannah, and New York

The time books record the hours that employees worked (time in and time out) and their pay rates.
