The records are important for the study of liturgy, feasts, etc. The series also contains rough drafts of encyclicals and printed copies of the Acts of the Consistory, motu proprios, and bulls. Antonines is the popular name given to several communities claiming the patronage of St. Antony of Egypt (ca. 251-ca. 354), among them the Maronites (founded 1695; approved 1732) who without sufficient historical evidence trace continuity with the original disciples of St. Antony in the desert. The Hospital Brothers of St. Antony, founded by Gaston de Dauphine (1095), did not survive beyond the French Revolution. The so-called rule of St. Antony is dated after the latter's death but is based on authentic and apocryphal writings of St. Antony
