Writings include manuscript drafts of his Vademecum, notes and drafts of an unfinished work on the history of the violoncello and its technique and performance, a workbook for a cello method in collaboration with Rudolf Matz, bibliographies of cello methods in collaboration with Elizabeth Cowling and Joan Mack, draft essays on aspects of performance practice and pedagogical draft essays and notes. Series consists of preprinted standard daily diaries by year, used as logs for all units of Massachusetts Correctional Institution, Bridgewater, Mass., including the State Hospital, giving each day's admissions, discharges, deaths, and desertions, as well as total number of each category, by gender -- Gives individual names and numbers, as well as type of inmate (prisoners, paupers, insane to state hospital, inebriates, defective delinquents, drug addicts, voluntary admissions--these change over time) with monthly totals. A few years have two volumes, one just for state hospital statistics

Under the supervision of the Dept. of Mental Health and predecessors, Danvers State Hospital and its predecessors were responsible for providing residential care and treatment of mentally ill persons in northeastern Massachusetts since 1878. Discharge registers were created to record information about deceased patients and to serve as a source of information for annual death statistics -- Information includes register/serial no., autopsy no. (see: Autopsy reports (HS7.05/512X)). name, date, year no. (sequential by sex for fiscal year beginning October (July since 1943)) and cause. Vol. 2-3 also include legal status, whether autopsy/medical exam, and no. of admission. Presumably these are a summary version of more detailed information in death registers segregated by sex (now presumed lost) as with: Admission registers (HS7.05/1004X) and: Discharge registers (HS7.05/1005X).
