Harald Szeemann's papers document every step of his curatorial process, including preliminary notes, written descriptions and proposals for projects, installation sketches, exhibition documentation, research files, and extensive correspondence with colleagues, artists, and collaborators. Also included are approximately 750 videos (mostly VHS but also other formats), including video artworks, installation and performance documentation, and interviews with Szeemann. At this time, only Series I. Project files, Series II. Artist files, Series III. Curator and museum professional files, Series IV. Photographs, 1892-2007; Series VII. Gallery and museum ephemera, Series VIII. Personal files, and Series IX. Business files are available for research. The remainder of the archive is unprocessed. Each series will be opened for use as processing is completed

Using film footage transferred to video, this piece documents Beuys's action, Vitex Agnus Castus, staged in the middle of his large-scale installation, Arena, at the Modern Art Agency in Naples in June 1972. The installation included approximately 400 photographs documenting Beuys's career to that point, mounted in 100 large aluminum frames. In the center of the installation was a sculpture made of two stacks of blocks: one made of blocks of fat mixed with wax, the other of iron and copper slabs, the elements of Mars and Venus
