Papers of A.B. Cook and of several of his businesses -- Collection contains extensive correspondence (1888-1928) intermixing personal, ranch, construction, and other business matters. Among the most substantive correspondence is that with his personal secretary Hazel Alsterberg, who conducted much of his business dealings. In addition the A.B. Cook subgroup includes court papers, financial records, and legal documents, reports, and subject files concerning Helena property holdings, mining claims, etc. There is a large A.B. Cook Stock Farms subgroup concerning the operation of Cook's purebred Hereford cattle ranch. The subgroup includes financial records and extensive breeding records for his prize winning herd. There are also records for two other ranches that Cook owned: the Flying U Ranch near Bynum, Mont., and the the Stiles Cattle Company on the Standing Rock Reservation in North and South Dakota.
