Materials in this collection were generated by Lee H. Salisbury before his UAF employment that began in 1955. Scrapbooks 1 and 2, "Plays and Players," contain theatre ephemera from 1942-1943 seasons in New York City. The scrapbooks feature Majestic Theatre, Cort Theatre, Center Theatre, Fulton Theatre, Royale Theatre, and other theatres. Plays include, "Lough Town Laugh," "Broken Journey," "The Merry Widow," "By Jupiter," "Porgy & Bess," "Tobacco Road," "Show Time," and "3 Men on a Horse." Scrapbooks 3 and 4, ca. 1941-1949, feature NYC theatrical performances. The scrapbooks' ephemera consist of theatre programs, press clippings, tickets, photographs and other memorabilia, some of which are autographed. The Horton C. Force scrapbooks are filled with clippings about plays and actors, playbills, opera bills, recital programs, programs from the Seattle Symphony, and vaudeville programs. Also included are a program from Barnum & Bailey's Circus, a catalog of the First Annual Fall Exhibition by the Society of Seattle Artists, cinema programs, and other theater ephemera. Most materials are from or about Seattle theaters and productions, but there are also materials from theaters in Chicago, New York, and Boston
