Series mostly consists of annual reports submitted to the Department by school districts giving information on adult education classes conducted. The reports were used to report statistics and (after 1945) to request reimbursement from the State for expenses related to these classes. Some reports have attached correspondence relating to transmittal of the reports or classification of statistics -- The reports, dating 1921 and 1941-1965, vary slightly over time, but each generally gives the following information: city, village, or school district name; county; name of director of adult education; and school name, address, and principal. For each adult education course, the following information is given: title; teacher's name; teacher's license type; length and number of sessions held; and total number of students registered and attending. Annual volumes containing materials gathered by the College of Adult Education (CAE) at the Municipal University of Omaha and its successor the College of Continuing Studies (CCS) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The college changed names multiple times during the period in which these volumes were produced. The School of Adult Education became the College of Adult Education in 1952, which became the College of Continuing Studies in 1966. In 1968, the Municipal University of Omaha (OU) became the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). As the organization changed, so too did the character of the annual volumes.
