Diaries (49 v.) of Von der Mehden and his wife, Susan (Bates) von der Mehden (1874-1955), chiefly detailing daily life and personal celebrations, including dietary diaries (3 v., 1923-1925) kept by Susan von der Mehden; correspondence, financial papers, notes, biographical materials, newspaper clippings, photos, scrapbook, and other personal papers, including information pertaining to his 50 year membership in the Freemasons; mss. of 15 major works including symphonies, concertos, quartets, and sonatas and sketches of several smaller works; published works and facsimile of his collected works (printed posthumously by University of Connecticut); and 104 wax cylinders, owned by von der Mehden, of works either composed or conducted by him or his contemporaries, as well as six vaudeville sketches
The collection includes six full orchestral scores in original form: 'Legend' written for the West Australian ballet Company (1988); 'Daisy Bates' written for the Sydney Dance Company (1982); 'A Christmas carol' written for the Queensland Ballet Company (1983); Symphony No. 1(Microsymphony); 'Symphony No. 2' and 'Symphony no. 3'
