Scope and Content Collection consists of photographic portraits; correspondence; newspaper and magazine tear-sheets and clippings, some in scrapbooks; newletters; publication contracts and agreements; collected chromolithographs and colored engravings (many by Mary E. Eaton); and watercolor, oil color, and scratchboard illustrations by Hottes, which form the bulk of the collection. Many of the illustrations by Hottes were for a book on California plants which he never published, because of the prohibitive cost of color printing at the time.
Sandburg corresponds with the assistant editor of "Better Homes and Gardens" re the latter's intention to send Sandburg and his family several books and a magazine subscription in thanks for some photographs of the author
This scrapbook consists of 36 page of newspaper clippings and articles about Abraham Lincoln. Articles from: Chicago Sunday Times, Better Homes and Gardens, Dixon Evening Telegraph, Chicago Daily Tribune, as well as many unknown sources
The collection contains biographical information, photographs, and copies of garden articles written by Woodroffe from her time as a columnist for the Des Moines Register and writer for Better Homes and Gardens. The articles consist of photocopies of over 40 years of published materials, mostly "Your Garden" and "Gardens" columns that originally appeared in the Des Moines Register. The collection also contains copies of her articles that appeared in Better Homes and Gardens spanning over a decade
