This poster commemorates the 1979 Ghana military government of former President Jerry Rawlings. Rawlings led a military coup by young army officers in June 1979 which overthrew an existing military government. "Rawlings and the young officers formed the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC). The armed forces were purged of senior officers accused of corrupting the image of the military."
