The Charlotte Selver papers circa 20th century (bulk 1959 to 1999) consist of the personal and professional correspondence, writings, transcripts of classes and workshops, photographs, personal items, and sound records of Charlotte Selver (1901-2003), music educator, originator of the concept of “Sensory Awareness” and leading member of the “Sensory Awareness Foundation.” Charlotte introduced sensory awareness to the U.S. She was closely connected to the Esalen Institute and San Francisco Zen Center. Her work is continued by the Sensory Awareness Foundation. The papers also contain material related to Charles V.W. Brooks, Selver’s husband, author, and Sensory Awareness instructor

This collection consists of materials amassed during the later half of the 20th century and the early 21st century by professor of anthropology and ethnomusicology Don Hill, including postcards depicting cultural scenes from Africa, the Americas, and Europe, lantern slides, and paintings by Carribbean artist Canute Caliste. The collection also includes original research notes from field work conducted by Hill in the Carribbean during 1970s.

The 20th century music collection (1940s-1970s) consists of ephemeral materials such as ticket stubs and concert advertisements for various bands Three Dog Night, Grand Funk, Potash, Alice Cooper and Fever Tree. There are also several album and singles top listing brochures from local Utah radio stations KEYY, KRSP and KOVO. Also inlcuded in the collection is a scrapbook consisting of news clippings and publicity photographs of popular singers of the 1940s.
