Collection consists almost entirely of correspondence including postcards. A number of letters are addressed to Nannie Blackwood from her brother Herbert, an employee of the Insane Asylum in Raleigh. Other letters are to W. Alexander Blackwood from his mother. Several are to Mrs. Mittie (Blackwood) McCauley and Nannie Lloyd (assumed to be the former Nannie Blackwood). J.J. Ward wrote of the thriving town of Durham. Other topics include the sale of fruit trees, and the family's crops. Other correspondents include Mrs. E.R. Kirkpatrick in Mexico who tells the story of her son's depression, and suicide and about Guadalajara; and Jesse F. Minnis, a missionary in India. Robert P. Blackwood's Alliance Trade card is included showing him to be a member of the Elm Grove Alliance No. 728. There are also a few photographs, including tintypes
