Postcards not only provide views of attractions, such as the Cape Henry lighthouses, amusement parks, or the beach, but also serve as a record of more mundane local buildings, many of which have are now defunct. This collection includes postcards from numerous hotels and restaurants and area churches and scenic sites. There are postcards for the Edgar Cayce's A.R.E., several coast guard stations, the old and new convention centers, and the Aquarium in Virginia Beach. There are also postcards from Newport News, (including Old Point Comfort and the Chamberlin Hotel), Suffolk (including the Great Dismal Swamp), Norfolk, and the Eastern Shore and Northern Virginia. From the early twentieth century are several postcards of the Princess Anne Hotel
