Some of the items are programs on which his work was performed, some humorous music-related sheets bound together, the Good Friday program includes annotations, most likely by Purdy, of keys, number of singers used, changes in casting; the Crystal Palace program includes a presentation inscription to John Stainer from the author, dated February 8, 1897

Also included are several letters from students, in French or English, which are mostly letters of transmittal accompanying the compositions
