The papers cover the period 1920-1921 when Mannix travelled to the USA and Rome and was prevented by the British government from entering Ireland.
Dr Daniel Mannix was the Irish-born Roman Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne from 1917 to 1963. He was politically active in Australia and an outspoken supporter of the Irish nationalist movement, Sinn Fein.
