Travel account documenting ornithological expedition by boat from Charleston, S.C., to the upper St. Johns River in Florida and return trip ending in Charleston.
Documents a four-month-long trek that Brockway and traveling companions W.W. Worthington and Daniel Bennett took to collect bird eggs and specimens. Contains numerous references to the types of birds killed and eggs collected. Much of the crew's time was spent on or near islands, in particular Egg Island, near Darien, Ga.
Other journal entries recount the food eaten, species of fish caught, and places the crew stopped en route to collect mail and develop film.
