Papers within folders chiefly arranged chronologically in ascending order with undated items following dated material. The subseries Personnel files II contains papers left in their original order descending chronologically.
Records generated by the U.S. National Park Service and the Gettysburg National Military Park Commission relating to the licensing and regulating of Gettysburg National Military Park battlefield guides -- Includes correspondence, photographs, reports, lists of licensed guides, notices and lists of revocation of guide licenses, charts, notes, index cards, questionnaires, legal documents, citations, applications, and directives. Also includes six small notebooks with pencilled notes, written by local historian and superintendent of battlefield guides William C. Storrick, relating to the Battle of Gettysburg and Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg. One notebook (1935) is entitled "Notes from vol. 26 S.H.S.P. on Major General Trimble's narrative of the Battle of Gettysburg."..
Established 1916; administration of the Gettysburg National Military Park, was transferred from the War Dept. to the National Park Service in 1933.
