This collection reflects the history and activities of the Guild from 1948-1978, including minutes from meetings, scrapbooks of newsclippings and vintage print programs. Special events included fashion shows featuring clothing from the shop of John Doyle Bishop in Seattle and exhibits featuring jewelry art designed by Salvador Dali.
In 1948, before Seattle University established its offices of advancement and public relations, Father Lemieux, SJ inaugurated the Seattle University Guild and invited prominent Seattle women to assist him in promoting Seattle University to the wider Seattle civic community. During a vibrant thirty year history the Guild sponsored cultural and social events that received prominent coverage in Seattle newspapers.
The collection is open for research.
