Thomas B. Mosher (1852-1923), then a manufacturer of various stationery materials, published his first book in 1891 without the author's knowledge or permission. He successfully published 16 books by 1895, sold his stationery business and began to publish full-time. Noted for his contributions to the private press movement in the United States, he published 384 separate titles, 338 reprints of those, and 61 "privately printed" books, all limited editions.
