Arranged into six 3-ring binders as follows: Vols. 1-3. Virginia Beach History ; Volumes 4-6. Historical Photographs.
Vols. 1-3. include clippings, pamphlets, and photographs, chiefly from 1974-2000, about Beach businesses and buildings, many of them now demolished. Included also are clippings about landmarks and new attractions, including Mt. Trashmore and the Virginia Marine Science Center (now the Virginia Aquarium). Many related photographs are in Vols. 4-6.
Vols. 4-6. include chiefly black and white 8 1/2 x 11 photographs suitable for publications of the CVB, some with captions. Most appear to be from the 1980s.
The Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau provides marketing and promotional activities to attract both overnight and day visitors and a variety of meetings and conventions to the city. It also supports the tourism industry year-round. The Bureau collected photographs suitable for use in publicity, and newspapers articles pertaining to Virginia Beach history as an office collection. This portion of the collection was donated to VBPL in 2014.
