Camie Smith Research Collection (1859-1912). This collection was compiled by Camie Smith, of Bozeman, and her family. It consists of typescript copies of the 1855 Treaty with the Flatheads, ratified in 1859, and the 1855 Official Proceedings of the Council held between Washing Territorial Governor Issac Stevens and the Flathead, Kootenay, and Upper Pend Oreille (also ratified in 1859). Also included in this collection are two 1902 bills of sale between George L. Sweeney and J.J. Shinnick, Frank Singer, and H.B. Campbell written on Missoula County letterhead, and several stock certificates (for the Montana and Cape Nome Mining Company, the Hornsilver Mining and Milling Company, and the Missoula Base Ball Club) of stock owned by H.B. Campbell.
This collection was compiled by Camie Smith, of Bozeman, and her family. Camie is a fourth generation Montanan. Both her and her husband were born and raised in the state. The material in the collection was discovered in their home.
