Receipt for $400 to purchase cattle for the U. S. Government. The receipt was made in Sale Creek, Tennessee. Sale Creek is a small town in Hamilton County. The 6th Tenn. Inf. Regt., USA, occupied the Sale Creek area from September to December of 1863. In the receipt, John Parham agrees to deliver the cattle "by the 12th of this month [November 1863], or earlier, if possible, at this point or any reasonable distance the changes of war may find us."..
