This collection consists of a documentary titled The Career Stories of Broadcast Journalist Steve Bell created by filmmaker Robert Mugge. The documentary contains four and a half hours of interviews, news footage, and photographs, all of which focus on Steve Bell's career as a broadcast journalist. The interviews were conducted in Muncie, Indiana on July 19-21, 2013.
In 2013, Robert Mugge began working on a documentary film on former ABC News correspondent and anchor Steve Bell. Mugge, who holds the Edmund and Virginia Ball Endowed Chair in Ball State University's Telecommunications department, conducted several interviews with Bell where they discussed Bell's prolific career. Throughout his broadcasting career, Bell has covered many high profile national and international events including the East Harlem riots, the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the assassination of Robert Kennedy, the Vietnam War, martial law in the Philippines, the Watergate Scandal, and several US Presidential elections. In the film, Bell offers 96 insightful stories about his career as well as his philosophy and methods on broadcasting. He also discusses the struggles of maintaining a family while juggling a demanding career and frequently traveling outside the United States.
