Consists of a deed for T.F. York and wife, Etta York, of Fentress County, dated 1925. Included is a note from the donor, C.A. Nelson, to state librarian William T. Alderson, Jr., and dated 1963 that reads as follows: "The inclosed deed belonging to John Roberts, has a mystery surounding it, for after he died in 1928, the next year, my sister, his wife, Augusta Nelson Roberts, came to my home to live in Kentucky. When the farm was mentioned, she would only weep. Said they would not let her have it. She did not say who 'they' were. Neither would she let me envestigate, when envestigation was mentioned she became fearful, almost hysterical. So I done nothing about it. She died in 1931 in Kentucky. John and her had no children, during their marriage, between 1916 and his death, 1928[. H]e had some children by a former wife. Use the deed, or destroy it, I have no use for it."..
